Happy Hallowe'enie!

Newest OFD Rookie takes the biggest haul!
Our little firefighter was out & about the town tonight. Making sure all were safe & the treats were being collected. And he made his momma proud with his manners & polite festive greetings. Very thankful for the practice at lunch & dinner time. Cuteness only gets you so far, but thank yous & Happy Hallowe'en is the icing on the cake!

I can't believe this is his third year already. First our little bear, then came our monkey, now our grown-up firefighter. But by 7:30 be was asking to go home. I asked him what his favourite part of the night was and his reply was... when I let Daddy have just one piece (of his candy). So absolutely adorable. Little does he know that Daddy will be munching so much more than just one piece once he is asleep.

Happy Hallowe'en!!!

Breakfast of a Champion

This was Jackson's breakfast of choice.

Cinnamon Apples, Peanut Butter & Real Bacon Bits Wrap, and Chocolate Milk.
A little odd but the flavours work.... A master chef in the making perhaps???

Banana Soupy

Baking with an almost three year old takes a lot of patience and a good sense of humour.
So many times I just want to rush through to get things done and get on to the next task. But having a little guy certainly puts the importance of good quality time to the forefront and savouring every second you spend with your kids.
It may have taken us over an hour to make the muffins that usually only take me about 15 minutes to get into the oven, but it was one of the best hours I have had all week! We laughed, we got dirty and we loved every minute.

He insisted on wearing an apron like Mommy's. It was very long and at one point he picked up the sides and said 'Look Mommy, a princess!' My kid totally cracks me up! It only got better as the afternoon progressed.
Making muffins with Jackson was so much fun and I am glad I took the time to just enjoy it!

Bouncing Away!

Another great fire family event!
There was a corn roast & snacks & a huge bouncy castle. And my kid was all over that bouncer & slide. He was even successful in coaxing his fellow fire kidlet (see picture of huge smile above) to join in the fun when a little apprehension set in. Of course, Jackson is also the kid that convinced all the other kids to start jumping into the fresh mud puddles.
He is so his daddy's boy! Watch out world!
But overall those guys really know how to keep the fun alive. The kids loved it and the parents enjoyed the last few moments of summer before the crisp autumn weather sets in.

Lightening Lake Camping

Cold Cold Cold
And that was just the first day/night of camping in Manning Park. Thank you to Papa Paul for the use of his propane fireplace! Kept us toasty when the sun disappeared.
But I must admit that the campsite and lake were simply beautiful and so peaceful.
We planned on staying three nights in E.C.Manning Park with Aunty Joy & Uncle Scott but settled for two chilly overnights. I am not exagerating when I claim it was cold... there was actually ice on the picnic tables from the morning dew when we woke after the first night. Really!!!
JMan & Daddy even went fishing & he caught his very first trout (only one that weekend). I think we were more excited than he was when he was reeling it in.
But Jackson did not notice the cold one bit. He loved every minute of chasing squirrels & chipmunks, jumping off logs & stumps, playing frisbee with Mom & Dad and just the novelty of sleeping in a tent outside. He made the cold not so bad and all worth it.

Fruits of the Summer

I love that we live in a region that has so many delicious summer fruits available to us all season.
From the cherries and apricots to the strawberries, melons, plums and apples. We are truly blessed with the bountiful abundance of fruit.

And I am so happy that Jackson loves fruit as does the rest of the family. How can you not when it's all around us in the beautiful sunny southern Okanagan.
